RESIDENCY ARTIST: Caitlin Franzmann

Caitlin will be in residence at the Level studio (now located in Red Hill) from February – April 2012 during which time she will create a body of work that explores perpetual shifts between a person’s internal and external space. In her solo exhibition ‘Hold’ she will create an intimate and sensory experience for visitors to consider not only the visible, but also the less tangible realms of their situation. More about Hold
Caitlin Franzmann is a Brisbane based artist with an interest in how people respond to space and place. She is also an urban planner with a desire to create cities and environments that enliven the senses and defend the natural slowness and autonomy of individual experience. In 2011 Caitlin completed a Bachelor of Fine Art degree, majoring in sculpture, at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Caitlin’s work has been exhibited locally and interstate at Ryan Renshaw Gallery, Griffith University Art Gallery, The Art Factory, Barratt Gallery, Nine Lives Gallery and Tidy Gallery. She was a finalist in the highly competitive 2011 GAS Graduate Art Show at Griffith University Gallery and was awarded the Griffith University Undergraduate Sculpture Award, 2011.

RESIDENCY ARTIST: Erika Scott

Erika will be in residence in Studio 8 from May – August 2011, during which time she will utilise the studio to develop a large-scale immersive installation work to act as a site or backdrop for further collaborative bodily interactions and dialogue. Her solo exhibition Pulverised Signs will open in Gallery 1 on Friday 29 July and continue until 19 August 2011. More about Pulverised Signs

RESIDENCY ARTIST: Hannah Gatland

During her residency in Studio 10 May – August 2011, Hannah will develop a body of work in response to ideas and research developed on her recent visit to New York. Exploring the ideas of micro-organisms, micro cities and personal sanctuaries Hannah will develop an installation incorporating paintings, drawings and three dimensional paper sculptures. RESIDENCY ARTIST: Nicola Page with Trudi Brinckman, Lucy Griggs, Utako Shindo, Saskia Pandji Sakti and Linda Tegg

Nicola Page will be in residence in Studio 10 at Level from January – April 2011. The residential period will culminate in an exhibition of new works stemming from shared themes and interests with the intent of amplifying synergies and interrelationships among a diverse group of artistic practices. The works have been produced while endeavoring to cover new ground in artistic and curatorial collaboration via online interactions in order to breach the vast geographic distances between the artists: Utako Shindo (Tokyo, Japan), Lucy Griggs (Almaty, Kazakhstan), Trudi Brinckman (Hobart), Nicola Page (Brisbane), Saskia Pandji Sakti and Linda Tegg (Melbourne). The exhibition Tree Line will open in Gallery 2 & 3 on Friday 8 April 2011 and continues until 29 April. More about Tree Line

RESIDENCY ARTIST: Tamsin Green

Melbourne-based artist Tamsin Green will be in residence November 2010 – January 2011 and will use her time in Brisbane to explore limits, particularly the limits of vision, through a combination of studio processes and site visits. Her solo exhibition Ground opens in Gallery 2 on Friday 4 February 2011 and continues until 25 February. More about Ground
Tamsin is an artist, writer and curator based in Melbourne. She is actively involved in the ARI network and co-founded Light Projects in 2009. Working predominantly in film, video and installation Tamsin has exhibited widely in Melbourne, as well as nationally and internationally. Her solo exhibitions include Looking (West Space) and To and from the end of the world (Conical Inc). Her curatorial projects include Objects in Space as part of the Next Wave Festival and The Reckoning at Kings ARI and Sierra Metro, UK. Green obtained her Masters in Fine Art from Monash University in 2009.

RESIDENCY ARTIST: Carly Scoufos

During her residency from August – October 2010, Carly will develop a new body of drawings in Studio 10, developing from a recent studio residency in Tokyo. Her solo exhibition Repositories in Gallery 2 opens on Friday 22 October and continues until 12 November. More about Repositories
Since graduating with first class honours from QCA in 2007, Carly has exhibited both in QLD and interstate, winning the prestigious Melville Haysom Memorial Scholarship (2008), the Siganto Travel Scholarship (2008) and undertaking a residency and solo exhibition at Youkobo Art Space in Tokyo.
RESIDENCY ARTIST: Mandy Ridley

Mandy will be in residence in Studio 10 from May – August 2010. Following on from a recent research trip to Spain, Mandy will develop new works leading up to her solo exhibition Squinch (uno) in Gallery 2, opening 27 August. More about Squinch (uno)
Since completing a Master of Fine Arts in 2000 Mandy has been awarded a number of public art projects both in Queensland and interstate and has exhibited works nationally and internationally, most recently at the Noosa Regional Gallery (QLD) and also at the IMA (Brisbane), Cowwarr Art Space (VIC), Blindside (Melbourne), Firstdraft (Sydney) and Gallery 4A (Sydney). Mandy was awarded an Asialink Residency (2005) and an Australia Council New Work Grant (2009).
