About the exhibition

Level directors Courtney Coombs, Alice Lang and Rachael Haynes come together for a little conversation with works that explore wordplay and material structures. Courtney Coombs is rekindling an old flame as well as lighting a new one. Alice Lang’s series of text-based work, in the guise of banners and flags, bear banal & everyday emotional proclamations. This work explores sculpture as a communicative and adaptable object as the works can be utilized as banners, robes and shelters within or outside of the gallery space. Rachael Haynes’ Studio Album combines multi-track sound with specially constructed listening devices and wearable drawings. This work continues her exploration of inventing interpersonal relationships through the construction of relational objects and propositional structures, ultimately revealing the discomforted nature of such contrivances.
