About the exhibition

After returning from a studio residency in Tokyo last year, Carly has commenced a series of three-dimensional drawings over the interior and exterior of objects lined with hand-sewn sheets of washi paper. This process neutralises the object and its history and draws attention to the physical space of the object itself; re-interpreting the space it occupies. This creates an interplay between form, space and the drawn surface and by presenting the notion of drawing-on-paper in a three dimensional format, it enables the viewer to enter into the drawn space itself.
