About the exhibition

my mother is water, my father is wood is an assemblage of materials collected over six years of research into the Scandinavian history of Queensland. Images, documents and artefacts, collected as objects of history, collapse into a personal story of longing. An elemental visual language of wood and water is proposed for the triangulation of family history with the political and the aesthetic.
