About the exhibition

Encode looks at the ways practitioners from both music and visual arts employ sound as a material. This one night event explores how sound can be performed, manipulated, created, evoked, installed, written and recorded. The artists’ low-fi and kitsch approaches to the physical material of sound, from pop music to midi samplers, are presented in Encode to explore how our familiar engagements with the medium can be re-made.

Encode is the first in a series of one night media arts events curated by Anita Holtsclaw, which explore the intersections between visual arts, music and film in contemporary practice.
